One of our Catalyst groups just completed a community service project and we wanted to share it with you…

Our Catalyst group decided to support Samaritan Resource Center (SRC), a local partnership of churches that work to end the cycle of homelessness.  After hearing from a fellow church member, Annette Shaffer (who is also a board member at SRC) about the amazing outreach they do for our community, we wanted to help.

Annette shared with us about some organizational needs for their food pantry, so Nikki assisted with purchasing shelving and bins to help toward that goal. We used our remaining funds to go shopping and purchased a little bit of everything from the SRC Wish List: from backpacks to flashlights, sunscreen, toiletries, undergarments, bottled waters and food items.

It was eye-opening to drop off the items at the center during an event where another community group was providing lunch to the clients. We were given a tour to see all the services they offer such as showers, laundry, mail service, health care, computer usage, Bible studies, food pantry and more.

We plan to come back and volunteer at the center or serve at an event in the future! We are grateful to St. Luke’s who provided the funding for us to help them in their important work.

SRC’s mission: We seek to love and serve our at-risk neighbors experiencing homelessness by providing tailored resources for their physical, mental, spiritual and emotional wholeness through the power and love of Christ.

Thank you to our Catalyst group, the members of congregation that make offerings that go to supporting community programs, and volunteers that run SRC.
