On Saturday, April 23rd, St. Luke’s hosted the LWML Spring Rally for the Greater Orlando Zone of the FLGA Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.  Under the rally theme of “Clothed in His Righteousness“, the morning began with a continental breakfast followed by a worship service with communion in the St. Luke’s chapel.  Zone LWML Pastoral Counselor, Rev. Ron Scheer, conducted the service and St. Luke’s Pastor John Elliott preached, setting the tone for the morning.
Sharon Shyrock, zone Vice President, led a Bible study, reinforcing the theme that we can live joyfully knowing that Christ’s righteousness, won for us on the cross, covers all our sin.  Marilyn Wolf, president of St. Luke’s afternoon LWML, shared some fashion tips on how to “jazz up” your wardrobe and dress with confidence and creativity.
Every zone rally includes “Gifts from the Heart”, focusing on some local community need.  We invited the 47 women who attended to bring socks and underwear to benefit the children served by Orlando’s Head Start program, and Krystle Young, representing Community Coordinated Care for Children came to accept our donations and explain their program.
After a brief business meeting, the ladies enjoyed a lunch together before heading home.  The attendees represented the following churches: Faith, Eustis; Holy Cross, Lake Mary; Prince of Peace, Orlando; Redeemer, Sanford; and St. Luke’s,  Oviedo.
We are grateful for all who came together to celebrate God’s grace.  It was a very enjoyable time of worship, spiritual growth and fellowship.
