THE GOD OF GENESIS: God Promises in the Meal

We have a heritage of hospitality. We have seen that Abraham and Sarah are not great role models for us most of the time. But here, their hospitality is cartoonish in how over the top they are. And as Abraham sits with God at the meal, God delivers his promise again. God transforms a simple act of hospitality into an opportunity to hear the promise. He does it here, he does it when Jesus hospitably welcomes his disciples to commune with him. Might he do it through our hospitality too?
