THE GOD OF GENESIS: God of Shabbat

The best place to start is the beginning. The Lord used six days to create all the earth, the universe, and everything in them. But he didn’t end there. He made the seventh day – a holy day. A day for rest and renewal.  But this was not a day he created for himself. Neither was this day created for us to serve. No, this seventh day was created for us – to bless us, to refresh us, to bring us into a time of relationship with God. Even (and especially) after the fall, we observe a time of rest to find our Sabbath with our Creator and Redeemer.

CHURCH OFFICE SUMMER HOURS Starting June 1st, our summer office hours will be Monday through Thursday from 8a-4p and Fridays from 8a-1p.

MAY 30 | HOUSEHOLD SALE LUTHERAN HAVEN | 8:30a-11:30a | There will be a household sale at 2077 Penguin Court in the Lutheran Haven. We’ll have a variety of household items available, and we’d love for you to stop by and take a look. See you soon!

MAY 31 | STEPHEN MINISTRY | 9a, Sanctuary | Stephen Ministry extends the care of pastors by training members of the congregation to walk alongside those going through difficult times. Stephen Ministers are equipped with caring and relational skills to provide Christ-centered support in a variety of situations, including grief, unemployment, divorce, chronic illness, and many others.

On May 31, ten new Stephen Ministers will be installed at St. Luke’s. We will take time to recognize their dedication and pray for them as individuals whom God has called and equipped for this important role. Interested in serving? Email pastors@sllcs.org

June 6 | LERT CAMPUS CLEAN UP | 8a – Noon | The SLLCS disaster response team invites you to join them for a hurricane season kickoff work day on our campus. We will prepare our campus with clean up, debris pick up, trailer organization and more. Bring along your work gloves, sturdy shoes and any of your outdoor tools. • Calling students K-5 grade! June 8-12 ($20 per child, including a shirt) | At Rainforest Falls, kids explore the nature of God—discovering who God is and how much he loves them! Kids participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, devour yummy treats, experience one-of-a-kind Bible Adventures, and make creative crafts they’ll never forget. 
• Calling students 6-8 grade! June 15-19 ($40 per child, including a shirt) | A VBS designed just for them with live music, fun games, small group talk times, tie-dye, service and so much more! An opportunity for connection with Jesus and friends!

LIFE SERVICE GRANTS | Funding is available for community impact projects! The LIFE Service Grant pilot program was so successful that St. Luke’s has renewed it. Nearly 2,000 people were impacted. CONSTITUTION AND BYLAW UPDATES Our voters were presented with proposed updates to the Constitution and Bylaws at the most recent Voters’ Meeting. These documents are available for review in the TouchPoint membership system at sllcs.org/myinfo – simply log in, click on the Resources tab, and select Voters’ Information. To help answer any questions, town hall meetings will be held on Tuesday, June 16, and Thursday, June 18. A vote for approval will take place at the Voters’ Meeting on August 30.

MASTER PLANNING UPDATE The results are in! Thank you to everyone who participated in the online survey. Visit sllcs.org/masterplanning to see the survey results. The committee is now working to process these results to create a future campus look for St. Luke’s! Keep checking back for more.
